Easter Brunch Styled Shoot
Rounding the final lap of my pregnancy with Caroline, I was getting pretty excited about Spring. I was getting lots of new exciting work and constantly filled with new ideas and knew the moment little C arrived I’d be a tad busy and Ellywise would have to take the backseat for Maternity Leave. She was due the first week of May (my anniversary!), so I decided to try and make one last creative-push and do a styled shoot with my mom for a couple ideas I had to promote Easter brunch items.
Let me start by saying, it was CRAZY. This plan was CRAZY.
Here’s a picture of me shooting the thing super pregnant.
It was tough. If my parents and husband hadn’t been heavily involved in moving furniture and Jack-childcare, it would not have happened. My mom brought dishes and furniture, we hunted together for napkins and other gaps in our place settings. I’m saying, it was crazy pants that we did this - we don’t just have rentals lying around nor the knowhow to assemble all this within the 3 days we did!
So, there we are arranging flowers in the kitchen at the farm, fighting the wind in the open field while also trying to set up and shoot simultaneously because we’re losing sunlight. Oh, and it was SUPER COLD. Now that we’ve established good crazy context for the situation, let’s talk about the ideas that made this decision a ‘yes.’
The vibes for the invitation and place cards were Spring and Southern - since the shoot was outdoors at the farm, it seemed to make sense and, also, cute.
The invitation design has a crest designed and hand painted in watercolor using the bright florals of Spring vibes as well as the magnolias that were created for place cards on the table. A beautiful script font, hand painted watercolor gingham pattern and a beautiful cornflower blue envelope all added to the southern feel for the design.
Place cards were the biggest idea for the adult brunch tablescape. I had only been offering die cut options for a few months, so still chomping at the bit to get ideas out there, magnolia die cut place cards were a must. I’m still super in love with how they turned out and posting the images on social media, a lot of others enjoy them as well! I was so excited the reception they received - I’ve gotten a lot of die cut inquiries since they made their debut.
If you have an amazing idea for die cut place cards for your event, click the button below to inquire and let’s get crackin’! Die cut place cards can be printed with the guests’ names included OR you can have blank ones printed and have a calligrapher add their magic or DIY.
Growing up my sister and I had cousins pretty much the exact same age - there was a total of four children running around and playing in chaos pretty much all the time. IT WAS THE BEST. It’s what I want for my kids when they reflect back on their childhood - because of this, when I plan a family event like Easter brunch I always try to picture a crazy house full of adults and children.
Personalized coloring sheets are one of my favorite things to create for kiddos. It’s time consuming on their part, but kind of special because it’s for them! The kid table at the Easter brunch had a Jack coloring sheet and a Caroline coloring sheet (yes, Caroline who was still in my belly at the time).
