2019 Halloween Boo Baskets

Have you ever been Boo’ed? We have!! The Presley house isn’t a big Halloween celebration. Don’t get me wrong, I have about 80 pumpkins that go up around the house the instant August birthday parties end, but skeletons and spiders? Not for me! There’s a lot of creepy to Halloween, but aside from adorable fluffy costumes there’s another cute tradition on the block - Boo’ing!

Our Boo Basket

This year I hit up the Dollar Tree for some goodies. I had a couple houses on our block in mind with small kids we see out and about fairly often and my recipients gave me two rules in mind:

1. All age ranges - the kids receiving these baskets will range from 10ish to 3ish so the activities and objects should be fun but safe!

2. No food!! Our school is a total nut-free school and it’s made me so much more aware of kiddos, allergies and even if parents allow candy or not - it’s best just to be cautious and avoid the treats.

Our basket was made from a cauldron (from the Dollar Tree) - it was a perfect size and easy to stuff a lot of the candy corn colored grass! I used a permanent oil-based marker to write “Happy Halloween” on the side and ripped apart the grass (also from the Dollar Tree) to get a good fluffy base.

The big rolled up pieces of paper were mini coloring sheets I designed, I included some crayon for coloring, stickers, bubbles and glow sticks.

Tag it up!

I’ve got ‘Boo’ instructions that had a lot of specifics to the game - something like ‘if you receive a basket you should put a sign on your door and then send two more baskets to someone else.’ My sending baskets to them was just a “hi there, neighbor!” So the tag was much simpler than others I’ve seen. The front of our tag just said “You’ve been Boo’ed” and on the back it read “Happy Halloween from the Presley Family” and said which house we were.
